Dinner with my besties, Deena & Lee, was great last night. The one thing that I am most anxious about with our move is not having these great girls by my side each day. I can only hope that my new school will offer me such an amazing personal and professional friendship.

Yesterday we got word that my great-aunt Libby passed away. I decided to make her my photo of the day and record some of the most vivid memories that I have of her and her late husband, Uncle Bill. As a child, we used to visit my dad's parents in Indiana each year. That visit, of course, included visiting Bill & Libby. They had a huge dog named Sasha, who scared the daylights out of me! Now that I'm an adult, I think that it would still scare me! Bill & Libby also had an organ, which I loved to play as a girl. I also remember Libby's bell collection. I was so touched when she started sharing pieces of that collection with Lauren and I. I am constantly reminded of how blessed I am to have a beautiful family!

Starting another week of Web 2.0 training at ECU with NC Teacher Academy

What a three days it has been...

Thursday was truck loading day. Leaving our home in Washington is very difficult. It has been a place where I have felt infinitely blessed.

Friday, we arrived at the new home in Sylva. Thanks to new friends and compassionate family members, the truck was unloaded relatively quickly and we were even able to enjoy our front porch view.

Today was the journey that never ends, bringing me back to Greenville for another week of Web 2.0 training with teachers from across the state. Yet, despite a 10 1/2 trek across our fine state, this is what stands out to me today. The best kids meal toy ever.

Today was another great day with DEN Leadership Symposium 2010 and we even got to take a trip into Boston to spend the day at Alan November's Building Learning Communities (BLC) conference. Wow! What an amazing experience. Today's photo was taken outside the Plaza hotel where BLC is being held. I loved how the light just streamed down, almost like rain. I have really enjoyed my time in Boston and love the city. It really is a beautiful juxtaposition of old and new that flows beautifully.

Today at the DEN LC Symposium we had an "un-conference" where the participants generated topics of interest and discussion. Awesome awesome discussions! Here's just one time slots sample discussions. Watch out EdCamp NC - this is coming to you!

I had an amazing day with DEN today, topped off with a trolley tour of Boston and a trip to FableVision hosted by Peter Reynolds himself. In this pick, I'm hanging with Judy Moody because she's awesome!

Today I left Mom and Dad's house at 4:00 AM (also known as quarter past stupid)to catch an early flight to Boston, MA where I'll be spending the week at Bentley University with fellow DEN Leadership Council members from around the country. I can't wait to see what kinds of fun we have in store!

David and Tyler are naturals at golf. It's so fun to see them learning and enjoying a game that has been such a part of the lives of our family!

Today the boys and I visited the Aurora Fossil Museum in Aurora, NC. What a fun place! The museum had an amazing collection of fossils found at PCS Phosphate and we learned all about how the fossils are found and mined. They also have an amazing fossil pit where we spent an hour digging and found at least 50 sharks teeth. What fun!

David finished up a great 2010 baseball season tonight as a member of the Chocowinity All-Stars baseball team. Despite a great effort, the boys lost their district tournament. David played 2nd base and short stop most of the year and hit lead off all year. We are so proud of him, his hard work and good sportsmanship!

This year's Bible School was set in Egypt and taught about the life of Joseph. The boys enjoyed five days of visiting an Egyptian Marketplace, singing and praising God, meeting Joseph and hearing his account of his journey from prison to the palace, and meeting in family groups. They even got to build a pyramid by stomping in the mud and straw to fashion bricks. This year was a lot of fun and full of the spirit!
