Today I boarded the SilverLake Ferry to Ocracoke Island with the other members of my ECU Cohort from the Center for Science, Math and Technology Instruction. Looking forward to spending time learning at the beach!

115/365

Last year Davy tried to plant a garden. It didn't go over too well. This year we have high hopes again. Fingers crossed that I'll be eating fresh ripe tomatoes this spring straight from my own backyard!

108/365 Opening Day

Yesterday was Opening Day for a new season of baseball. The boys have moved up to machine-pitch this year. Tyler went 1 for 2 and David was lead off and went 3 for 3. Tyler beat the throw to first when he ran so fast that his shoe came off. He stepped off the bag to grab his shoe, and they tagged him out. Come on now! Oh well, the most important thing is that they had fun! It didn't hurt that they won 9-3, giving their coach his first opening day win :) Go team!

105/365 Landmarks

Today's Daily Shoot idea was a photograph a local landmark. Many towns in North Carolina have adopted the idea of a town mascot that is throughout the town and can be designed by local artists and organizations. The first example of this I saw was the pigs in Lexington that were designed originally for a BBQ Festival. Washington has adopted the crab. Throughout town, you can find all sorts of crabs proudly on display. This crab features a map of the Pamlico River and Sound and is located just outside the Estuarium. Throughout the year, I plan to showcase some of the other local art as well!

104/365 Phlox

It's hard to believe that such a strange looking word could refer to a delicate and beautiful spring blossom.

100/365 Symmetry

My cousins, Michael and Shannon, and their sons are visiting from New York. We took them down to the Washington Waterfront to enjoy some ice cream and a walk along the boardwalk. I captured this picture as the sunset and loved the symmetry that it showed so clearly.

95/365 Happy Photo

The daily shoot idea for Sunday was to shoot a picture that makes you feel happy when you look at it. This one definitely works for me. Tyler was trying to get into his sleeping bag at Nana's and it wasn't working out. I had him stand up and jump while I pulled the sleeping bag over his head. The laughter that came out when the sleeping bag fell around him was priceless and definitely full of happiness.

92/365 Dance Night

Tonight was the CPS Dance for a Cure. It could have been more appropriately named Recess for a Cure. Whew. All in all, it was a good night and we raised over $900 for Relay for Life and The Autism Society of NC. Go CPS!
